This is very compelling. The way you described her contrasts so powerfully with the harsh reality....I feel his pain.

Alcoholism is prevalent in my dad's side of the family and I've seen it destroy more than a couple of lives in different ways. It's a tough subject. I was hoping to capture the sense of guilt some addicts suffer from.

My grandmother and one of my great aunts struggled with alcoholism. It destroyed their lives. My cousin who is my age is mired in it, and I don't see a good outcome for her. It is a terrible disease.
